According to public industrial plans released by Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Prime Minister’s Office, Egypt’s current total daily seawater desalination capacity stands at 1.4 million cubic meters, with a target to expand to 10 million cubic meters per day by 2030. Numerous petrochemical and manufacturing enterprises are clustered along the Red Sea coast and Suez Canal Economic Zone, generating massive demand for high-salinity wastewater treatment, resulting in a huge supply gap for high-performance core membrane treatment equipment locally. Under the 2026 special seawater desalination act Law No.12/2026, foreign-funded new water manufacturing enterprises enjoy full corporate income tax exemption for the first five years, and import tariffs are waived for supporting desalination equipment. Exclusive industrial land is planned along the Red Sea and Mediterranean coasts with expedited approval procedures. Joint ventures between Chinese and Egyptian partners are strongly encouraged to realize local mass production of core equipment, cutting import costs and shortening delivery cycles for projects.
